I'd never visited Old Sturbridge Village and my wife last visited on a 3rd Grade field trip, so we decided to check it out with our girls during Spring School Vacation Week since it had an extended schedule that week. OSV is a collection of historic buildings depicting life in New England around 1830. Horse carriages, barns, farm animals, water... More

We live in the Boston area and have kids 5 and 8 years old. Old Sturbridge Village is a quick, no planning vacation, meaning we come often enough we got a membership. There are many reasonably priced family friendly hotels in the area, a wide range of delicious restaurants nearby, as well as the Wells State park for some hiking.... More

Fun Old Village Experience for All Ages . Reminded me of when I visited The Williamsburg Va. Village . Lots of knowledgeable guides / demos / loads of exhibits / and Buildings to Tour . Several buildings had Gals baking bread & such in Brick ovens . A Living Museum Adventure that Recreates Early Life in New England . Add... More

I personally loved Sturbridge village because of all the staff members. Also, the carrage ride that went around the village was very fun. The man who ran it, named George, was full of knowledge and help me learn a lot of went on in the 1800s.

My 21 year old son and I went to Sturbridge Village during April school vacation week. It was fairly sunny but cool which may have been why the crowd was sparse (nice for us!). The cost is $28 per adults, but we paid half price due to my Mass Teacher's card and his college ID which was a helpful savings.... More

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in the 1830s themed village. The buildings moved from locations around New England are typical of a small town of the period. Many have character interpreters that really make the era come alive. The working blacksmith and tinsmith were particularly interesting. There are also several modern buildings devoted to learning activities. There is a short... More

The property is quite large , something that I hadn't expected. The houses and buildings that were open had re-enactors who were very welcoming and informative. Speaking with them, I could tell that they enjoyed being there and sharing the 1830 experience with me. It was a nice contrast to Williamsburg, in that Williamsburg represented our early American history of... More

We visited Sturbridge on Easter Sunday and the day after. We originally only planned a single visit but upon arriving were told that we could return by the end of the month. Easter Sunday was a hot day so we didn't even get close to seeing everything. Our children loved the egg hunt though. The following day we visited the... More

This is a wonderful way to step into the past. It is much more intimate and much less crowded than Williamsburg. (It's not the same time period, but in either place, you step back 100-200 years ago and I - for one - really can't tell that much difference between 100 or 200 years ago. ) You can see and... More
