Long Point beach takes a bit of work to get to, but the experience is well worth it. The surroundings are gorgeous, and the setting is a step back in time, distant from the crowds, the construction, and the intrusions of modern life. Salt and fresh water swimming for children and adults of all ages.

One day, on our visit to Martha's Vineyard, we decided to hike the Long Point Wildlife Refuge. What a wonderful place to visit! It was an overcast day but the weather was great for a long walk. We strolled along the shores of the pond and ended up on the beach to view the Atlantic Ocean. The hike is about... More

Long Point is my family's go-to beach on MV. It's terrific for young kids because there's a lovely wide beach situated on a freshwater pond that's very shallow out about 50 feet. So, no risk of kids getting dragged out by rip currents, etc. For adults and older kids, the ocean is just over the dune. There the waves are... More

This was a highlight of our trip. It was very very pretty. However, the trail system is very short. We did the whole thing in 30 minutes.

Follow the long dirt road to this beautiful spot where there is both saltwater and freshwater swimming. A bit pricey for a large since you pay per car plus per person but very beautiful.

We wanted to go back to the beach here after not coming by for several years. There is a long drive on a dusty road to get here but the place is magnificent. Be prepared to pay for the car and each person but if you join the trustees then I believe there is no charge. The beach is magnificent,... More

This is an amazing beach - beautiful sand and ocean on one side, fresh water pond on the other. I've never been any where like this. Just plan on arriving before 10am or after 2pm - the parking lot will fill up but the beach doesn't seem crowded.

Great waves low crowd beautiful scenery. This may actually be the perfect beach. The only downside is a slow drive at 25 miles per hour about 5 miles to the beach on a road that in most places is only wide enough for one car. It is absolutely worth it.

A glorious beach on a glorious day! Clean, bathrooms, shower, and only $10 per car load. You have the choice to stay ocean side or pond side. Great for small kids!

Tucked in the woods, Long Point is an incredible refuge for animals and people. Well marked, relatively flat trails weave through woods and along narrow beaches. A quiet, peaceful place, Long Point lends itself to meditative strolls, where you may glimpse birds, frogs, squirrels, chipmunks or even the occasional deer.
