I was there after a brief time spent in Falmouth early in the morning for a exciting day ahead to Martha's Vineyard. The ferry is an ideal way to go to Martha's Vineyard if you have specific time or a day trip. Advance booking will be required as there are long lines and most of the time tickets are booked... The ferry was on time, did not gave a huge line regardless the holiday weekend. They have a parking lot in Falmouth that serves the Woods Hole terminal via shuttle. Yet we uber from Falmouth which we found more convenient than waiting for the shuttle on our way back at night. Yet, we saw many shuttles waiting why we disembarked.... More

Inexpensive way to get to/from MV. Could do without the crowds all day every day between May to October, though. Everyone fighting to get in line first...

The boat ride is cheap, the employees at the steamship authority are very pleasant and helpful, and the entire experience is enjoyable. The ride is very quick and they have 2 boats ready to go in the AM shuffle.

We had never been to Martha's Vineyard but decided to take our car rather than walk on to ferry. This was a good idea. MV is a large Island and it was good to have a car to see all of it. The ferry is expensive but the cost to go on tours and use taxis would have exceeded the... More

Ferry ran on time for us and was a very smooth crossing despite the conditions. We used the ferry free-transfer service from Falmouth as it was in walking distance, particularly as parking in Woods Hole is very difficult, so would recommend this as a viable option for others. It was pretty blustery and rainy day so we opted to use... More

As always good as it gets. I've learned over the years since our vehicles...you got to be patient with the crew at Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs landings. Especially when go standby...my wife was jumpy...because one lane boarded before we did. Had to calm her down and relax...we'll get aboard, I told her. They have to load the ferries according...
