Nice HIke

We have been here a few times. Even though we haven't seen any wildlife, we always have a nice hike on the grounds. It's a little off the beaten path, but not hard to get to.

Excellent place to take a hike, snowshoe, or cross country ski. The wood are peaceful, there are many birds to view and the paths are well groomed!

We love taking the quiet boardwalk trails, especially the trails that lead to Grass River pier. Beautiful views at the dock and interesting wild flowers that vary with the season.

Hiked two different paths. One downland path over boardwalks through a marsh to the river and back. A second upland path through the woods. Saw many mushrooms of various colors, snakes, chipmunks and unidentified birds. Both paths were easy to hike and very relaxing. Stopped at the Nature Center and the ranger there was very cheerful and enthusiastic. She was... More

Mid September, the weather was warm with a cool breeze. It had rained the day before and the forest was still damp so everything was extra vibrant. I walked the Fern Trail and the Woodland. Both were so gorgeous I almost cried - I'm not kidding. Photos don't explain the magic. Carpets of moss and ferns, gentle trickling streams, random... More

Nice nature center with very helpful staff. Trails are well maintained , be careful on Boardwalk since the walk can be slippery. Nice bird viewing area where you can sit 15 feet from feeder and the birds will give you a good close. Varied landscape with streams, bogs wetlands and hardwood forests.

Sneeks up on you but was a very quiet area. Surprised by the nice building they have and offer several classes and walks. Great place to observe nature.

Newly opened last year this place has more trails and paths than you have days to travel. One of the best natural areas in the many that are in the state. Walk to the water and along the paths that have beautiful plants, trees and wildlife. Hint: Lots of walking. No motorized vehicles.

After hours of tubing on Torch Lake for days, we decided to venture to the Grass River Natural Area for a change of pace. It was beautiful and peaceful. The kids enjoyed looking for wildlife, mainly birds, as we floated along. We enjoyed spending a few hours exploring. The entire area is a no wake zone, so be prepared to... More
