This was a morning stop on our three day tour of Detroit and its surroundings. I wish we had more time. This 319 acre site offers so much, and is very well maintained. After a short visit to the Finnish exhibit (we were a day early for the Graduate exhibit), we took a long walk around the grounds, up to... More

I was very disappointed in the Cranbrook Art Museum.Getting there by public transportation is impossible. The number of works on display were miniscule. The works on display by people graduating from Cranbrook was nice to look at,but insufficient.Where were the paintings by well-known 20th Century painters and artists mentioned on their website(paintings by Pearlstein,Lichtenstein,Frank Stella,,Robert Motherwell, and Jeff Koons)? The temporary display of creations... Thank you for visiting Cranbrook Art Museum. I am sorry the experience did not meet your expectations! Cranbrook Art Museum is a part of Cranbrook Academy of Art and each spring, we present the work of the Graduating students. This year, we have work by 64 students representing all 10 of the Departments at the Academy. The Academy is proud... More

Very nice museum had to attend with the kids as a school project. This Museum is a diamond in the rough. We stayed for hours and saw art by outside artist and Cranbrooks own artist.

A small museum tucked away in the suburbs of Detroit that boosts the best in regional and national Art and Design from the 20th and 21st Centuries. Seated in the Heart of the historic Cranbrook Campus, the museum itself is a work of art by renowned architect Eliel Saarinen. CAM continually draws upon the history and legacy of the Academy's... It's a breath-taking building with a gorgeous, minimalist inside, but there's not a ton of art to be seen, unfortunately. The coolest exhibit is the static pottery display in the basement.

Thank you for visiting Cranbrook Art Museum. If you visit was during the winter of 2017, the main exhibition was "The Truth Is I Hear You", which was a 60ft. wide video projection in the main gallery. This video installation may have lead to the feeling that there was "not much artwork" to be seen, since the artwork did not... More

excellent lay out and interesting exhibits to ponder over. The grounds leading up to the Museum would be a whole other review that I would put on your list to visit and explore as well.

Wonderful exhibits in the museum and then there there is the entire grounds around the museum, Sculptures, fountains, and the garden. Such a gem! It's a regular stop for us whether is it the museum itself or the grounds.

I recently went with my Questers group to see the John Glick pottery exhibit which was wonderful and while there also saw the fasinating works of a book illustrator. Cranbrook is such a delightful place to visit at all times of the year. The art museum is always having interesting exhibits.

The 3 galleries on the first floor were down for changing exhibits, but there were 2 nice exhibits downstairs, a pottery retrospective, and pen and ink artist. See previous review for details. Plus it was a nice day to walk the grounds and enjoy the outside sculptures. Because there were only 2 exhibits, it was half price, which was great.... More

At first I was not impressed at all when I heard that there was only two exhibits on display at the entire museum. The first exhibit was John Glick pottery which I though was dull. I went through it in 5 minutes. I was surprisingly taken back by how fascinating the next exhibit was. It was a Edward Gorey exhibit... More
