It is great for travels and families and schools for field trips because knowledge is power. Art is culture and the Detroit Institute of Arts has a lot of culture for the mind.

I go back here very often.I particularly like to have something to drink listening to music in the courtyard after viewing the art.Always something to evoke thoughts and feelings.

This is a first-rate museum! I have visited here my entire life and it never gets old. There is something here for everyone; young or old, and every culture is represented. The DIA has a great permanent collection and lots more besides - there's always something new to see, and they do a fine job of including the whole community in their exhibits and activities. The museum is well organized and accessible. It is educational as well as thought provoking and is in a safe area to visit. You feel you are in history as you review the works in the museum.

There really is a great collection at the DIA. Picasso, Van Gogh, Rembrandt. Most of the artists had a nice placard with a description of their style and some other important points about the artist and the art.
