This is absolutely my favorite place to visit in Michigan! Take the time and drive the trail, be sure to pull off and stop when you can. The views are phenomenal. The waters of Lake Michigan will take your breath away, the waters look like the Caribbean.

Best national park, best beach in the world with fresh water. GO down the dune carefully and have a family member drive to north bar lake at the base of the dune head south down the beach and meet your family for a great picnic and swim in Lake Michigan and north bar lake best family outing for all ages

This is a slow drive through the national lakeshore park. Be sure to allot at least two hours so you can stop and enjoy the scenery, especially the dunes at the last stop. Our travel book had information about the stops as well as the brochure they give you when you enter the drive.

This part of Michigan is truly one of the most naturally beautiful parts of the country. Tremendous sand dunes to climb up, turn 180 degrees and you see lush, green forest. Also Lake Michigan is almost Caribbean blue. Fantastic drive!

A wonderful slow drive through a unique landscape. In early November, the colors were still spectacular.

Driving the M22 color tour and stop to check it out. All I can say is Wow what a great side trip. Great views and beautiful sites well worth the drive. This is a must if you are in the area.

We were glad we took the recommendation and drove the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. Lots of good views of Lake Michigan and the sand dunes.

This scenic drive came well recommended from my boyfriend's friend so we thought we would stop during our driving tour of M-22. There is a small entrance fee for vehicles and bicyclists. Each stop gets better than the last with the most amazing views of Lake Michigan at the end. There are signs everywhere on the dunes saying not to... More

This drive closes for winter. October is a wonderful time to experience fall colors in Michigan. Make sure you pick up a free guide at the visitors center. It contains detailed information describing the stops along the way. Very little walking to overlooks of Sleeping Bear Dunes. (There are trails out into the dunes if you want a good workout.)
