The dune climb and the views are what you came to see and for very good reason. If you are physically able to climb, this is an experience you don't want to skip. $15/car and that fee gets you into the park (any location in...More

We stopped after a day-long road trip and decided to make the climb. We had water and it was a cool day. I would probably plan better if we went back and start a little earlier!

Pictures don't do this justice. It is so neat to drive up and see little specks on the dune tops only to realize those are fellow hikers. We weren't able to complete the entire trail as it was far too strenuous. It was so much...More

An awesome dune to climb! Then you can keep going. Take plenty of water, sunscreen and be sure to wear a hat. The sand can be very warm, even on a cool day.

This was our first stop at Sleeping Bear. It was a great day for this adventure. Only 68 degrees out. We headed up in bare feet and carried our sandals in case we needed them. We however never did. Since it was so nice out,...More

Just under 6 miles to the lake and back from the Dune climb parking lot. I recommend leaving the shoes in the car. A lot easier than filling them with sand in the first 10 steps. I didn't encounter any obstacles that hurt my feet....More

Would recommend this train for those physically fit. Start early so you can take breaks without feeling rushed. Also bring/wear your bathing suit as you will want to take a dip once you get to lake Michigan. There are no refil stations so bring enough...More

Early morning is the time to hit the Dunes and boy is it worth it! You hike over 100 up 1.5 to the top to have amazing views of Lake Michigan! Additional trails take you thru amazing pine trees and shrubs
