While in town for Thanksgiving with my wife and our two elementary school aged kids we decided to kill some time and explore downtown GR. We happened upon this place right on the river and were thrilled to see that it proved to be a very fun time for our kids and was reasonably priced as well.

We were amazed by the astounding variety of presentations on various topics and themes throughout the museum. The depth and breadth of the displays was awesome. Many of the exhibits are "hands on", so it is interesting for children, too. The day we visited there were 400 school children visiting throughout the morning, so the mood was a little raucous.... This museum was really cool. We spent hours in there and I am quite positive we still missed things. There is so much see. Some displays are interactive. Great for kids. People were friendly and answered questions for us. I would go back anytime. We truly enjoyed.

Expect to stay a few hours - lots to explore. Three levels of really awesome exhibits. I had to buy the membership to go back several times during the year knowing all the museum had to offer. Very knowledgeable staff.

Beautiful Museum and perfectly laid out. Even without any children it was a great place to go. Very informative and a good variety of exhibits.

I had to become a member because my children love going there so often. They also have swing dancing from time to time for my teens. They have a doll house play area my little ones could stay for ever.

This was a awesome museum. It is a large facility so allow enough time. It had displays about just general information such as birds, animals, clocks, etc. It also had displays about the history of Grand Rapids. There is a cafe but we didn't eat there. I highly recommend visiting this place.

We are sorry we didn't give ourselves enough time to finish this place. What a find. The longer one is here, the more one enjoys the next exhibit, the next floor. We thought we would cruise through here before dinner, ended up staying until it closed.

We were impressed with the personal attention given by the staff in the store-front area of the museum where they have replicas of a print shop, drug store, and others. The staff was quite knowledgeable and willing to explain things to our 9 year old grandson. The museum is very nicely maintained and has a good variety of exhibits.
