The Scavenger hunt is a great idea and I liked that all the letters are labeled. I was disappointed they had no letters that pertained to two of the most important permanent exhibits: the Anishinabek Indians and Newcomers. I would have also liked to have seen a schedule posted for when the Anishinabek presentations run. I would like to also... More

In addition to the wonderful rotating displays, this museum truly gives you an idea of the history and pride of Grand Rapids. I learn something different and interesting every time I visit, and there is enough to keep kids of all ages interested.

My boyfriend and I went to this museum on a whim. It was a nice size and pretty affordable. If you wanted to go to another part of the museum it was extra which didn't make sense. It was understandable that the interactive show was extra.

Like the loaf of rye bread created to a bowl with your choice of soup inside. Good parking, clean, clean restrooms, and a museum attached. Must see.

First, I need to preface this by saying I really like the public museum. The permanent exhibits are great/interesting/informative. I invited family new to the area from Chicago to the new Whale exhibit and they were underwhelmed. Yes, it had cool skeletal structures, but that's about it.

We have an annual membership, and we highly recommend as it's good at museums across the country. This museum does an excellent job with special events and rotating exhibits. They had special holiday crafts during holiday break. Lots of kid friendly exhibits and activities. I'm also impressed by the number of volunteers. The carousel is always a hit too. Great... More

We love visiting as a family. We have 3 girls ages 11, 7 and 5 and there is always something there for each one of them. Of course, we spend a lot of time riding the carousal! Membership has it's perks! Front row for the 4th of July fireworks, members only events throughout the year, and the kids can hop... More

While in town for Thanksgiving with my wife and our two elementary school aged kids we decided to kill some time and explore downtown GR. We happened upon this place right on the river and were thrilled to see that it proved to be a very fun time for our kids and was reasonably priced as well.
