A relaxing, scenic trail ride in Cedar Run, MI

We did a one hour trail ride and we had a lovely, relaxing ride. The horses were gentle and very experienced on the trails. We had a great young girl guide and felt very safe & comfortable the whole time. A very enjoyable experience!

Doug and Dennis helped me and my daughter conquer our fear of horseback riding. Even better we really enjoyed the experience. The trail was beautiful. We saw butterflies and cranes, rode through forest and fields. Can’t wait to go again.

Horrible customer service

Left messages and called multiple times a day for a couple days in a row with no response. Finally called and got an answer with an extremely rude response. Unnecessary attitude right off the back and zero people skills. Do not give them your business. I have been to 3 different places that offer the same experience with zero customer service issues. I did not go because of the horrible experience I had trying to give them my business.

Don't judge a book by its cover!

Our family had an amazing time. Yes, he is an old eccentric cowboy. Yes, he looks like he has worked hard all of his life. Yes, when you pull up it is not a country club and if you are a complete city slicker than you will think it is not where you want to be. BUT if you give the guy a chance and if you are polite he is wonderful. He cares about his horses. The ride and scenery was AMAZING! So beautiful. He even tried to charge me less than what we originally agreed but we chose to pay him the full amount. Don't judge a book by the cover or you will miss out on a great time.

Absolutely do not advise using this place. We go horseback riding a lot on vacation and it was my birthday and wanted to go. I made him infuriated simply asking if helmets were sanitized between clients. Then he asked my 12 year to get on first. She has only been on a horse twice and both instructors before told her both hands on the reigns. She was confused to why he said one hand only and literally started screaming at her saying, “DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND ENGLISH?!” My daughter nearly burst into tears. We immediately intervened and my husband told him no one speaks to our daughter like that. I got her off the horse and we left. Meanwhile he continued to scream at us saying to get off his property. Do not take your children here. It’s very unclean and he certainly doesn’t know how to treat people.

Had a wonderful time

Doug did a great job - tells it like it is. A lot of fun to be around. Our daughter loved all the time he took to talk about horses and riding. The one hour trail ride was wonderful. We'll certainly be back.

Amazing experience!

We had an absolutely amazing trail ride with Robin! We have 8 year old twins and a 10 year old and they were able to ride pony’s. My daughter was very nervous and Robin took her under her wing and made her feel so comfortable. By the end of our 1 hour ride none of us wanted it to end, especially my daughter who was all smiles by then !

We will definitely be back next time we are in the area for another ride with Robin. LOVED LOVED our family experience.

I’ve seen a couple reviews of people complaining about Doug not answering the phone. They are busy all day long and don’t take time away from their customers to answer during the rides. Just be persistent and keep calling. That’s what we did and so glad we did!!

STAY AWAY!!

Something is wrong with this place!!!! DONT GO! I cannot tell you where else to ride horses in TC but this is certainly not the place I would take my family. Couldn’t leave voice message or get him to answer for 2 weeks. No email address. My 6 year old son and I decided to drive over to see if they may take reservations in person. Yard and house run down, lots of junk surrounding his driveway. Weathered sign and horses saddled up behind the barn were the only clue that we were at the correct location. When we arrived he came out of the house, unkept, lots of missing teeth, very rude and seemed simply angry. I said ‘hi’ and that we tried to call him, apparently that was all it took to set him off. He said, ‘what do you think I do here, I don’t have time to answer messages’. I didn’t even have a chance to tell him that I couldn’t leave a message for 2 weeks because his phone isn’t accepting messages. Then he started yelling at me about being too busy to answer his phone, my son and I left. I wouldn’t trust his judgement to keep us safe on his horses. I couldn’t tell if he was under the influence, had psych issues or just an angry person but I would rather never ride a horse again if it had to be with this person. Certainly wouldn’t trust my family near this guy.

Absolutely Recommend!!

This was a highlight of our trip to the Leelanau Peninsula. It was a wonderful ride and our guide was fantastic. Doug, the owner, is a cowboy at heart and you can tell that horses have been his life's passion. We will definitely return!

Excellent ride with Doug. Horses are probably the best cared for of any riding stable I've ever been to. Beautiful country, well worth it. Be sure to call ahead or email to get a reservation. You only go out with your group & not put in with other riders so times book up quickly. I'm looking forward to going back!
