The S.S. Badger is the largest car ferry to ever sail Lake Michigan and has provided a safe, fun, and reliable shortcut across the inland sea for more than fifty years. The ferry takes passengers, autos, RVs, tour buses, motorcycles, bicycles, and commercial trucks across Lake Michigan between Ludington, Michigan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin from mid-May through mid-October.

We had such a wonderful trip on the S.S. Badger! A beautiful day and the staff were so helpful and careful with our car and our dog. Would definitely do this again! It was awesome.

The waves were from 8 to 10 ft The ship is old and outdated but is needed. Someone should invest in the company and help improve the conditions on the ferry. The list is long on what needs to be done from upgrading the food...More

Thanks for the feedback! Lake Michigan can sometimes be pretty rough, the Badger was built to sail year round in all kinds of conditions and we have a number of remedies on board for motion sickness. We are continuously upgrading the passenger amenities, the current...More

What a wonderful time we had ! The staff were helpful and friendly. I loved the stateroom but the deck was my favorite. The museum was very interesting and the food was good! An excellent value.

I was very skeptical about taking the Badger, having lived in WI for some 60+ years and being able to avoid it this long. Was I wrong! It was a fantastic experience! The staff was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The ship was old (which...More

Who knows how long one will be able to ride this Ferry? I was riding through on my way to Dearborn and decided to cross lake Michigan instead of going through Chicago. Loved all the old time ship sounds, creaking, chugging. Beautiful views of the...More

We had not taken the ferry and thought it would be a fun way and millage saving way to reach northern Wisconsin. The trip certainly met our expectations and more. All staff work very hard to keep the costumers happy and load and unload vehicles....More

Been many years since last crossing on the Badger. It is like time stood still on this vessel (except now it has Wi-Fi). Reliable as ever. Sunny skies and calm winds made for a very pleasant trip. I can do without the onboard bingo and...More

It's the only way to cross the lake. Ever sit on shore and wish you could sale on one of the ore boats? Well for most of us you cant. However you can cross the lake on the SS Badger almost as big as a...More

Had planned to take ferry for months. Got to WI side and learned ferry leaves at 2:00 pm and gets in at 7:00 pm. So this means you waste one morning waiting for departure, and virtually necessitate another hotel night getting in that late. Why...More

Sorry our schedule didn't fit your needs. It's clearly posted on our website. In 25 years of operations we've never had a morning departure from the Wisconsin side. Our ferry is based in Michigan and we start our day with a morning crossing going west....More

We got a stateroom. Didn't know there were 2 beds and we couldn't change the configuration. VERY uncomfortable. It was also airless. A thankfully smooth ride, but I felt claustrophobic in the stateroom and would rather have been in one of the lounges.

It docks at 7pm. I would say be at the park at 6:30pm and you can watch it come down the canal, turn around, and dock.

We are very busy in July. If you are taking a car on your trip you definitely should have a reservation.
