our family crossed the straits dozens of times before the bridge was built. the years it was under construction were the most interesting. Seeing the towers rise out of the water, the cables being strung and finally seeing the deck installed was fascinating. The only thing I miss is the old ferry's we used to take to make the crossing.... More

We had some time to kill on our last trip to Mackinaw City so we stopped in. Upstairs from a pizza place, this museum is free to attend. Best part is the film on the making of the bridge, quite informative.

I've visited a few times as a kid and always loved it. Recently went back as an adult with my mother and enjoyed reminiscing and seeing all the sights.

This museum is on the top floor of the Mama Mia's pizza restaurant. Its an excellent place to learn how the Mackinaw Bridge was built. Also very interesting. Its free to visit and would be a nice place for adults and children to see the tools used, logbooks, and many other interesting pieces of history.

Over Mama Mia's Pizza. A great tribute to the men who built the Macinaw Bridge. Don't forget: if you are (or were) part of the Iron workers Union you can get 20% of your(and your group's) order downstairs

This museum is loaded with interesting exhibits, film footage, pictures, and other artifacts relating to the construction of the Mackinaw Bridge. In fact, you feel the history jump out at you as you make your way through this museum.

This museum is a great way to learn about the building of the Mackinac Bridge. It is free and there is a lot of information and several documentaries you can watch. The only draw back is it is not air conditioned.

I didn't care about visiting this museum, but my husband wanted to go to visit because he remembers it as a kid. I didn't think much of the museum at all and he agreed it wasn't as impressive as it once was, but it's free!
