Nature's Kennel Iditarod Sled Dog Racing and Adventures offers guests the opportunity to learn to drive their own sled dog team. In the winter, we offer half-day, full-day and overnight beginner adventures. We also offer dog sled rides both at our kennel location in McMillan, MI (the Eastern Upper Peninsula) and at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs, MI. In the fall, we offer fall color tours by dog team on our four-passenger side by side. In the summer, we have walk-through guided kennel tours.

The dog sledding was a fantastic experience. All the dogs are super friendly and enjoy being pet, but they love running even more. Visiting with the puppies was especially enjoyable before going sledding.

The best part of Nature's Kennel is its dogs, and the second best part are the humans who make the dogs healthy, trained, and sociable. My 2 teen children and I went on an overnight sledding adventure that we will never forget! Tasha is a...More

Question for past guests: Would you recommend the 10 mile or 20 mile option for a day trip for a couple? If you did the 20 mile option, were you kind of wishing you'd chosen the shorter option in the 2nd half? If you did the 10 mile option, were you wishing you had picked the longer option?

Just last week, my children and I did the 20 mile overnight. 20 miles took us about 3 hours or maybe a bit more. I did get cold at the end of the time, but I was amazed at the unflagging energy of the dogs. They just kept on... More
