This is an absolutely wonderful experience any time of the year. Beautiful grounds and trails, kid friendly nature museum and activities. On summer weekends a chance to visit the homestead and school of the pioneers. Lots of critters. Beautiful meander along the Chippewa and Pine River. Every season has its own beauty. A nature lovers paradise.

Do you enjoy nature? Do you like to 'go back in time'? Or just go somewhere quiet. It can be done here. The museum / center has places to sit and watch from a bench inside and outside and just watch the river flow by. You can find people to talk to and answer questions. You can see or read... More

We visited during an usually warm Feb day. Most of the trails are dirt so they were too muddy for us to check out this visit. There is a paved loop/trail near the Welcome Center and a longer paved trail leading to the main road. Both were adequate enough for the walkers, strollers and bike riders we encountered on our... This is a great nearby location to get "out into the woods". There is a maze of paths, but we usually go for the long, perimeter path over the main grounds (about 3 miles). This takes us through pine woods and nettled ground, which gradually morphs into seasonally wetter ground, with the occasional little boardwalk/logwalk to avoid mud, then more... More

Taking family photos, nature hikes, picnics, or exploring in the river. This is a great place to take the family for a fun day outside. There are plenty of interesting things to see as well as some 100 year old buildings, some tremendously long trails, and some fun farm animals. Take the kids, pack a picnic, and enjoy a day... More

Visited at night as they had an event at the homestead cabin tonight. What December fun. Nice warm fire outside, and warm wood stove inside. The kids got to make a wooden Christmas decoration and I got to check out what was cooking on the wood stove in the kitchen. Very nice evening.

Great place to take in nature by yourself or with the kiddos. You can hick through densely wooded area to a number of attractions in including a cute farmstead with some live animals. This is a great place to take pictures of nature, or have family pictures taken. Broad array of scenery available.

Our community is so lucky to have this outdoor space! Nature, in all it's GLORY! Walkways are clean and easy to walk or bike and the scenery is beautiful.
