I first visited the cathedral in 1998, when a renovation was due. In August 2017, it seemed a different cathedral: all white and clean, a cathedral in all of its grandeur and splendour. A walk on the roof is a must, even when you're afraid of heights. Remember it's hot like an oven on the roof. You may have to... More

The front has been renovated and work has started on sides although not seen from inside Cathedral. Guide very informative about re-building history and tunnels connecting to other Leon churches. Lucky to listen to rehearsals for Easter service and to see procession in the evening.

Leon and the Basilica are worth a day trip from a cruise ship. Even though we were there on a Sunday, a holiday, there were still a lot of things to see and do in Leon. The Basilica is a beautiful old cathedral which has mass each day for the many Catholics on Leon. If you want to climb to... More

This church is beautiful. It has been renovated and the cravings and stainglass are really something to see. The square outside the church is where people gather and venders sell their wares. I walked to the top ot the church and the views of the surrounding area were worth the climb. The only disadvantage to the view is the fact... More

I would go here just to look at the beautiful old buildings the museum is housed in. But there's more. The art collection ranges from Nicaraguan artists to Andy Warhol. There is old Christian art and modern art. Definitely worth a visit.

The catedral is okay, but it is really the roof that you must see! It is all white with lots of cupolas and you have an amazing view on the surrounding volcanos.

Don't get me wrong, this is a massive and beautiful church, but the part you pay for is not the good part This is an active church so you can go inside and see the church for free. What you pay for is to go up on roof and look around the city from the top and of course you... More
