We came here for the afternoon. You can go swimming here and we swam just out the front of Playa Roca to the right of the rocks. The swell was pretty big when we were there with 5-6ft waves. It looked perfect for experienced surfers but a little tough for swimmers. The stretch of beach is pretty though and makes for idyllic sunsets.

Sit on the rock. Listen to the waves. Read a book. And experience the sunset. Repeat. Daily. I love it.

Nice, clean and quiet beach, a bit windy all the time.
Has several hotels and restaurants around.
There is a lake close by, worthed to get a trip.

This beach is only 20min away from León and has restaurants lined up along it where you can chill and relax. You get amazing sunsets here

We have been travelling for the last 3 months in Central America and this beach is one of our favourites so far. It is extensive and very clean, with good waves for surfing or playing in. There are very few people travelling here at the moment and it is very quiet, but feels like an amazing secret that everyone should know about. We felt very safe, people are friendly and prices are low ad locals do their best to encourage tourists to come. The end of the beach, towards Boca de Oro, is best for backpackers. We loved our stay at Tapihouse, 1 minutes walk from the beach, cheap, with friendly staff, good breakfast, and 2 lovely dogs. Just a short walk to local restaurants and bars.

We did a trip with Volcano Day and they give you free afternoon transport to the beach and return after sunset. We went to Mano a Mano hostel, which is nice an right on the beach. The beach is nice soft black sand. Highly recommend a visit to relax for a day or two. Nothing special about it but it is worth visiting.

Big waves, so head to the north side of the beach where it is a bit more calm. Not many tourists, quiet and secluded. Not many places to eat but a good relaxing place to go to. We loved our time here.

This beach is close to the colonial city of León, Nicaragua. It has many small hostals and casual restaurants and bars established by foreigners that have decided to move here. Surfers have a preference for this beach!
