We love this beach! Today, we had 6 grandkids in tow and they all loved it. They run up and down the dunes (and will sleep well tonight) The beach isn't crowded like some of the other more popular ones nearby. It's clean. We had...More

The day we visited Hoffmaster State Park, the rain fortunately held off, the waves were terrific, and the cloud formations were dramatic and impressive. While we didn't plan on swimming, our kids decided to do so anyway and had a great time! If you're bringing...More

We were in the area briefly and made a trip out to the beach at P.J. Hoffmaster. It was a great place to play! The waves that day were good, and I think they would be good most days as there is a great sandbar...More

My husband and I luckily snagged the last open spot last weekend and took a Friday - Sunday trip to Hoffmaster State Park. The campground was quite large and very shaded, which was nice considering it was 95+ degrees. We stayed at site 242, close...More

At Hoffmaster, you have to choose your site carefully. We prefer campground sites near the beach walk, and we had plenty of room and backed up to a dune on site 43, which was perfect. The water was crystal clear and the small river coming...More

We were looking for a campground near Lake Michigan. The reviews for this park were mostly positive, so we reserved our campsite about a month in advance. We arrived on the afternoon of May 28th, just as the holiday campers should be leaving. According to...More

Better than Florida thought of being. Clean fresh and beautiful. I just moved to Florida and our Michigan beaches are much nicer than here. Enjoy a sunset. The Lake Michigan perch are the best.

We enjoyed the 186 stairs up the dunes even given the 25 mph wind off the lake. Took the hike out to the beach. Well maintained and appreciated the DNRs care for the environemnt.

Yes, certain times. Love the trails! The dunes create some shelter from the winds of the lake and the views are breathtaking. I would call The park for specifics.
