We googled when the steam train was running and went for that time 11:00. Arrived about 30 min. early in Mid-September but easily got tickets for €10.50 each. It might have been an idea to book ahead but we were out of season. Journey is approx 4Km there & 4Km back in narrow cuttings or along the side of a... More

Yes the views are very good. ... but the out and back train ride is nothing special. Most of the ride there is no view at all, just steep embankments or tunnels. Also quite expensive at 10€ 50 cents per adult. There are several tunnels..... and therefore it gets very smoky in the front carriages. The carriages are open, like... More

Amazing Scenery! The publicity photos don’t do it justice: You are taken along the side of a rock face, in & out of tunnels. The 11€ fare represents real value for money. You need to check-out their web-site, if, like me, you wish to go on a steam train rather than a diesel pulled train.

Probably exciting if you are a train anorak, but sitting in a glorified cattle wagon on dreadfully uncomfortable seats, on a 'steam train' being pulled by a diesel locomotive, looking at scenery that can be better viewed from some of the magnificent local chateaux is not my idea of fun. You can't even see the River Dordogne from the train.... More

Worth the trip. A very old, quaint town and amazing views from the train. Free toilets in the market square a real bonus!!

We took this trip as our 5 year old grandson loves trains but everyone in the family had a great time. The steam train pulls open carriages along the side of a cliff with terrific views across the countryside. The trip lasts about an hour with stops for photographs and is not expensive. One word of warning - when a... More

Loved, loved this - took three teenage girls and even they were impressed!! The trip was so much more than we'd expected, just a couple of hours, but a few stops to enjoy breathtaking views. A team of staff/volunteers obviously passionate about their trains!! Family attraction for sure, young and old!!

This is a must for train enthusiasts and non - enthusiasts alike; old and young. A 8km stretch of track that clings to the cliffs above the Dordogne valley and gives the most incredible views. High days and holidays the open, seated carriages (dating back to 1930s), are pushed and hauled by steam; on other occasions by diesel. A couple... More

Run by volunteers this is a lovely trip lasting about 1 hour. You are seated on old 1936 wooden benches in around 10 carriages to enjoy a trip through a few old stone tunnels along the side of a cliff to marvel at the distant views. Well worth a visit and reasonably priced.

The adventure to go by train on a very ancient one, has no comparison for little children! The train works just 3 times per day and you have to be there 1 hour in advance to be sure to find the tickets.
