We loved the Polar Express Experience. The 1225 was amazing to see in person. Everyone was very nice and friendly. We took lots of pictures. The Steam Railroad Institute was small but nice. It had a lot of the history of the 1225. There were plenty of bathrooms before boarding the train. We will be returning next Christmas time and... More

We rode behind the #1225 from Owosso to Clare for its 75th Birthday excursion. The car hosts were fantastic at making the trip enjoyable for everyone. The passenger cars are from Canada (originally VIA) and are very comfortable to sit in (avoid the Ex-MARC car). The #1225 is the original Polar Express, and I also recommend the North Pole Express... This polar express trip is so worth the money! It is a 4 hour long excursion. The town of Ashley aka. The north pole was great! You are in town for 2 hours and you need all of it to do everything! It is pulled by the 1225 which is what the train on the movie is modeled after! The... More

We went the Steam Railroading Institute to the see Original Polar Express. It was out at a Festival but a very Knowledgeable Jim give us a tour of the Steam Engine that was there and we learn a lot of about the 1225, the Original Polar Express. GREAT for Kids and Adults!

We have taken this train trip twice with different grandchildren, ages 4-8. The kids love the time and the real Polar Express experience.

The exciting thing is that it is the real Polar Express 1225! In December 2014, my son and I watched the movie the Polar Express for the first time. My three year old became obsessed with the engine and the movie. A few months later, we found out that the Polar Express existed and was operational in Owosso, Michigan. We... More

We went to their North Pole Express experience. It was based off the story The Polar Express. We decided on the cocoa class and choose the Dancer car. It included the yummiest hot cocoa both ways. My son was chosen to help serve the hot chocolate and he was able to keep the chef hat and apron as a souvenir.... More

If you can't tell by the title we've made the almost 4 hour trip from Chicago every December for 3 years to ride the North Pole Express. As much as I'd life this to be an honest review of the museum itself, I will admit it is more a review of the our NPE experience. By all accounts our first... More

The winter North Pole express trip to the town/village of Ashley was great. Our kids are 3&5 years and they really enjoyed it. It's great for adults too. I'd suggest an evening trip as the lights are beautiful. Things at the village were reasonably priced. Take along a backpack to carry treasures and a few snacks for the train ride.... More
