While we were at the Shipwreck Museum we stopped in at the Whitefish Point Bird Observatory. They had some nice displays and a small gift shop. There was a path along the lake shore you could follow too.

Excellent spots for hawk watching and migrating passerines. Trails and observation deck are convenient to navigate. Fall migrants were. Just coming through. Veeries, Swainson's Thrushes, Ovenbirds, and Pine warblers in abundance. Red squirrels (Tamiasciurus Hudsonicus) abundant. One signboard at Tahquamenon Falls cited Olive Warblers can...More

We visited a couple of times in the day and loved the area, but it was the nighttime owl banding sessions which really captivated. To see N Saw-whet Owls in the hand was unforgettable! Highly recommended

We viewed a number of birds. In May the Bluejays were migrating in the UP. This is a good place to couple with the Lighthouse and Shipwreck museum.

Whitefish Point itself as no charge to enter. The museum on the grounds and to go into the lighthouse both have a charge but very minimal. I think the museum is $10 or less per adult. And that's in if you choose to do so.
