Great family camping. A little crowded with campers. But we had a tent site which was out of the way. Walking distance to downtown. Nice beach with concession stand with ice and wood for sale.

Camping✔️ dunes✔️ Beach✔️ Restrooms ✔️ Beautiful views✔️ This beach has it all and more! Located at the end of town, it's definitely the place to be seen in the summer. Alcohol is prohibited and fun is allowed! Bring the entire family for a glorious day!

What I love about Mears, besides the proximity to Lake Michigan, is the campsites. Yes they're tiny, but it forces you to be a good neighbor, which we need more of.

Wonderful huge beach overlooking the lake. Very clean. Nice sand bars not to far off shore, great for playing games with kids.

We walked on the pier and along the boardwalk on the beach. So cute and has a pet-friendly area for dogs to swim in Lake Michigan.

Wonderful day use beach with benches and bathroom facilities and a walk way to the peir out onto Lake Michigan. The campgrounds are all rocks and blacktop kinda frumpy :(

We go every year for the hiking trails. Get a map at the gate and pick your preference. We like the island trail. Ponds of water with reflections. Especially good photo ops in the fall. Boat rentals and beaches on Hamlin Lake and Lake Michigan....More

The beach area is a full service location. There is a good amount of parking but get there early. Sunset is particularly busy as there is a campground within walking distance to the beach. Lots of good facilities to use as well.

We didn't have much time in Pentwater, but we made time to enjoy sitting on the beach...so nice, clean and relaxing...there is a store with beverages, ice-cream, and food items....it also has a nice swing set area....make this a stop, you won't regret it

we have a family outing--20 or so. we need three cabins or mini cabins in the camping area. does mears have such facilities? if not do you know of any mich st. parks that do? gene rigotti

Unfortunately, Mears does not have mini cabins. To see which MI state parks have mini cabins you can do a Google search and the DNR has a list (TripAdvisor will not allow a link in an answer).

I'm looking at site #28... would this still be walking distance to the shore of Lake Michigan/the beach?

I don't know where the particular site is, but the whole campground is within a five minute walk to the beach. Many camper folks bring along a small fat-wheeled cart to facilitate transporting their provisions for a day at... More
Where is campsite #158? Worried it may be by the restroom and I can't find a detailed map anywhere on the internet. Argh!

#158 is at the upper, shore side of the campground with a dune between it and the Lake. Convenient distance from the restroom/shower building, but a little longer walk to the swimming beach, playground, snack bar, etc. No... More
