We stay in Saugatuck annually and love the Kalamazoo River. We stay on the river and love seeing all the boats and people doing water sports. The river is clean and there is a ton to do on and around it. Definitely worth a visit...More

Why was once a vibrant port is now a travel at your own risk shallow body of water. The locals have obviously neglected this natural resource in much the same manner as the shopping areas

I liked everything about Saugatuck and the surrounding area, including Douglas. If I had a boat, for sure I'd spend time on the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan. Plenty of docks with lots of good restaurants, hotels & B&B's.

Rode the Star of Saugatuck down the Kalamazoo and into Lake Michigan - a relaxing ride with a glass of wine bought on board.

Driving through Saugatuck and Douglas today most times you can look either to the right or left and you see the Kalamazoo river if not on both sides at least one side depending which street your on! Beautiful views! Boats, wildlife and water! Love it.

Going out to the Lake, this is the most relaxing place to get there. Very scenic and a relaxing day to spend an afternoon.

Big Lake Outfitters & a place called Running Rivers, but...I have no idea what either of them charge. There are also several types of boat rides available in the Saugatuck/Douglas areas. Hope this helps. Good luck! J.
