The Soo Locks is not only very important to shipping around the world, it is also a great and fun place to visit! I never miss the opportunity to visit the Locks when I'm there. Be sure to go into the Visitor Center, there are many fun facts about the ships and their routes.

We made the trip after lunch. Don't forget to mention you are a senior or veteran when purchasing tickets. The boats are clean with restroom and beverage and snack bar. The staff was pleasant and enjoyed answering questions. They will help with handicapped patrons. Our service dog was welcome. We had a great trip. This would be fun for all... More

We first stopped at the Soo to see the massive ships up close. We have been hooked ever since. We make an annual late summer trip. Ships can be viewed close enough to see and talk with member of the crew. There is a visitor center with interesting and informative displays and vidio presentations. Informed volunteers willing to answer questions... More

Love visiting any time I am in town. The locks are just such an amazing engineering feat! Even better if a freighter is coming through but still fun if not.

The Soo Locks was a very interesting experience if you love ships and life on the open water, which I do. When the ship we were watching was finished loading, and it was time to open the lock, the ship sounded it's horn, and it about blew my eardrums out of my head. Should have plugged them with my fingers.

Don't get me wrong, we had people checking their shipping apps (?) and swore that a boat/ship/rubber ducky was coming ?? So was Christmas and sadly the Ship that did appear went over to the Canadian side ! Bugger ! Either way the Locks are a fascinating achievement & would of loved to see them in operation but no luck... More

What a treat! While there we saw a tour boat, coast guard boat, and later a huge barge go through the locks. They have an awesome viewing deck and IMO, there's no need to pay to go on the tour boat. You can hear what they are saying while on the viewing deck. Played putt putt across the street and... More

My highschool sweetheart and I (going 20 years marriage), took a stroll down memory lane last fall. We use to cuddle by the fountain when we were dating. The park has changed some since then, but we still got in some cuddles.

If you are a boat nerd, you will love the Soo Locks. Sault Ste. Marie is the place to go to see Great Lakes Shipping. I can look out from the observation decks for hours (though my wife may not agree). Go!
