Nice observation deck to see large boats travel thru locks between lakes. Historical points mentioned. Museum was closed for season but deck opened. Two locks (large and small) with large lock taking about 45 minutes for ships to traverse. Beautiful falls colors in trees in...More

The park that leads to the locks is very pretty and security was just a quick stop at the gates. The visitors center was educational, informational and made learning fun. I appreciated the board that listed incoming ships so you knew when to get your...More

We timed it just right and got to see 1 freighter and 1 tour boat go through the locks. The freighter started first but the tour boat got through first. But so fascinating to watch the whole process even for someone like me that can...More

Enjoyed watching an ore ship go through the locks. Entire area well organized with lots of helpful information. If not from the area the entire ore trade is new. FYI--later saw the same ship being loaded in Marquette MI!

There is a tourist center with a basic showing of the locks workings, history and construction. Ships passing through the lock can be seen but that's it. I was expecting a bit more.

Process of raising and lowering ships is very interesting. Museum and Information Center have many informative areas. Interactive computer display of upbound and downbound ships let you know when the locks will be operative.

The Soo locks have changed since we were there last. All the entrances were closed except one and armed security guards check for weapons and such at the only entrance. Went through everything in my wife's purse and asked if we had any kind of...More

I found it very interesting to hear about how the locks were made and the history behind it. We took the boat ride through the locks. They also could be seen from a viewing area above the area. A museum is located next to them...More

The park is fenced off and controlled by Homeland Security. And in all honesty, its not a super dog friendly place due to the inside museum and lots of stairs for the viewing platform.
