We love seeing the beautiful old buildings repurposed. So much to see, fun and interesting shops to visit, restaurants, you name it! The grounds are beautiful. Really great place to simply walk around the large open space.

parts of Pike's Market - in an odd sort of way. We arrived earlier than expected for dinner and took that time to walk through shops and look at desserts. I came away thinking I could have spent all day and next time I will! What a wonderful way to 're-use' such an interesting (and massive) place!

Such a very special place to visit. It will not disappoint. Many things to experience. Plan on a full afternoon and at least one meal(i rec. Stella).Don't miss the Bakery across from the Mercado! Get a map before you go so you don't miss ONE thing at this exciting "newer" location in the TC area.

From coffee roasters to its own winery to wood fired bakery and on to Spanglish food. To wonderful wooded trails to Michigan's most romantic restaurant! A trip to Traverse City would truly be incomplete without a stop at what was once the most progressive Asylum in Michigan.

The tour would not have been the same without Joe. Excellent guide! He added his own experiences of growing up in the area. If you have time, take the tour!!

We really enjoyed the shopping at The Village. The farmer's market just happened to be going on Saturday so an extra bonus to our shopping with local goods for sale. Picked up some nice goodies at the sea glass shop, browsed the bookstore, have some soup at the restaurant in the basement besides the cheesecake shop. A very fun and... More

We were fortunate enough to book a stay through airbnb at The Commons before realizing what an amazing place it was. The history behind the Commons and the shops, yoga studio, restaurants, etc. make it a great place to visit. We were there in October of 2016 and fall colors were at their peak. Liked it so much that we... More

If you know where you want to go, the former state mental hospital-turned-mixed-use-attraction is a great area to wander. There are signs around the village pointing to various businesses, but the only map we've been able to find is one that's printable from the web and is impossible on a phone. It's possible there's something available we just haven't found,... More

Shops and restaurants were very cute and unique. The history of the hospital was intriguing. Definitely time well spent!
