Perfect rainy day shopping in an interesting historical venue. The stores are upscale, classy and artistic. Parking is free and convenient. There are many restaurants along with cafes serving coffee, ice cream and cheesecake. A very enjoyable experience.

The Village is a massive complex built on the grounds of the old Northern Michigan Insane Asylum. One level of the main building is given over to tiny shops and cafes. It is a unique atmosphere - you are browsing among the old patient rooms...More

Many interesting shops. I commend Traverse City for repurposing these historic buildings instead of just tearing them down. The interiors and grounds have been beautifully restored. Be sure to visit Landmark Books--GREAT independent bookseller with an outstanding collection of modern American fiction, reasonably priced. The...More

Interesting place to go to shop. Neat stores, but kinda pricy. Go and look around if you have the chance.

An old state hospital turned into shops, places to eat, and residences. Unique places to shop, and it's kind of an eerie feeling knowing you are going through the halls, that once was a place that kept people who weren't able to be out in...More

This was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide Joe was so knowledgeable, interesting and fun, he took this from a good tour to a great one!!! It was fascinating to learn how this asylum operated. This is so worth the money spent!!!!!

This was a nice place to visit given the history of the building. Nice little shops and a few restaurants. Didn't take the tour, but would probably recommend doing so to get more out of the experience.

This was a really unique experience. The shops were fantastic. We enjoyed the building and the rich history. Fascinating use of the building. If we had known more we would have taken the guided tour of the grounds.

We were on the 2-4 tour this past Sunday and he was the guide. He didn't mention whether he had done the morning tour or how often he works.
