A wonderful winter playground and learning center for my 3 year old. A place of refuge that we visit annually during our holiday to Traverse City. Clean facilities and engaged staff. Highly recommend. Also—impressive gift shop!

We visited here on a Saturday morning with our 2.5 year old and infant. Our toddler LOVED it. The space is small and I think would get boring fast for older kids, but it was perfect for him to spend 2 hours. It was not crowded at all and by the end of our two hour session, we had the place to ourselves.
Covid protocols were the absolute best I have seen in recent times. Everything is very thoroughly sanitized between every use. You have to request certain toys to be checked out at the desk and they sanitize between all uses, which is great for smaller kids who put things in their mouths and it was never issue to get the things that our son wanted to use.
He could have spent all day at the water table, but also loved the helicopter and ball wall and climbing on the other exhibits. He was also thrilled to get a new book on his way out from the little free library out front.

Cute little place to stop and "play"! Loved this for my kids. They were ages 6 and 15 when we stopped and they both had enough to do to keep them entertained.

This Children's Museum is small but mighty. Local inspired exhibits, creative programming (we celebrated the 50th Moon Landing Anniversary). Do note, this place is popular and busy!

Great Lakes Children’s Museum was just what we needed to get our toddlers wiggles out on a rainy day. Although busy, things were spaced out enough to where it didn’t feel overly crowded. However, most stuff was aimed towards toddlers, so if you have a wide spread of ages the older kids may get bored quicker than the younger crowd. I do agree with other reviewers that if you have more than one or two kids it can get kind of pricey, but I don’t think it was any more extravagant in comparison to other hands on museums, although it is smaller.

Learn all about the Great Lakes with fun interactive activities and exhibits. Just the right size, so that it is not too overwhelming for young children(or parents). Have visited several times with the grandkids and it’s always a good time.

The children's museum in Traverse City is small but it's a fun area for your child to play. Most of the items have a nautical theme and there are some attractions.

My 2 year old had fun there for about 1.5 hours. It can get a little hectic though since it's not that big. But it's a small, fun children's museum and play area in Traverse City, which is especially useful on a rainy day.

This could have been a pretty decent stop for our kids (5,2,2). However, for two parents and three kids,$35 seemed a bit steep. One price for all? The activities (slides, play house, water table, arts/crafts) were fun for them but there wasn't anything very elaborate that would seem to justify that price. There are just too many other options in TC especially during warmer weather to bother here IMO.

Like many reviews I read before visiting, this is more of a play area to burn off steam for little ones rather than a museum. After being in a car for over 3 hours it’s good to get out the wiggles before we attempted to go out to dinner. While I don’t understand why parents are also charged admission I was happy to pay it to get the kids entertained. The gift shop has a deal where you can fill a small bag with rocks of your choice for $3 so that’s a win too since my boys love to collect rocks. All in all it’s good on a cold or rainy day or just to burn off energy for little ones.

My little ones can spend hours and hours here. So much so that we bought a family membership for the year. Highly recommend. And they are always updating.
