The park is located across the street from an outstanding park on East Grand Traverse Bay. Inside the park are some great shady campsites supporting tents and RVs up to 30 ft. They accommodated my 38 ft 5th Wheel but it was tight fit and...More

A wonderful campground nestled between hotels, restaurants, a beach and a (loud) airport. Somehow, even though there's a lot going on around this campground, you feel like you're in the deep woods. I love when it's full every Labor Day and other families are enjoying...More

Staff were very accomodating and sites were well kept -- clean. I was surprised at how many other "fall" campers joined us for the weekend. Gorgeous weekend -- great campfires.

I love nature, but because we are from MI, we HAVE to purchase a season ticket "good til March" $11 or you can't enter. Well we had driven that whole way so we did. You walk a short path to the lighthouse, but you pay...More

Quiet and pretty in the fall. We were able to go for a run with the dogs on the Tart Trail (right behind the park) then afterwards cross the pedestrian bridge and go for a dip in the lake. Lots of places to eat nearby.

Have stayed at this park for 10 years running. Unique for a Michigan State park, as it's actually right in town. Across the main street from the combination park/day use beach, but there is a walkway over the road and the beach is large enough...More

We stay here when we can't get our time share exchanged on the east bay. The park is wonderful, the park employees go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Will continue to camp here whenever we can.

What a perfect location. It's close to town, but yet a relaxed rustic feeling. Then you have the beach right across the street and the bike trail next to the campground. The pedestrian walk over the road makes it so nice.

It's important to understand up front that Traverse City State Park is an urban campground, meaning that it's right in town. Given that there's so much to do in Traverse City and given the high cost of hotels in the area, this Park is both...More

The state park backs up to the TART trail. So you can do miles of snow shoeing. Just google TART Traverse Area Recreational Trail for maps. Amazing location.

They do fireworks twice. Once on the 4th and once at the end of the Cherry Festival. So it's nice to see the fireworks right downtown, but then it's a good alternative to watch them the 2nd time from the bay across the... More

The parking lot and entrance close, but if you're walking over from the park nothing and no one will stop you.
