This is an outfitting company with a very good outdoor store, completely off the grid as well in downtown Ely, MN.

I have used Piragis for outfitting my canoe trips for 10 years. I know the people personally; they are competent, have the latest gear, eager to help, and know the country, although I don't need that information. I have been outfitted individually by Steve Piragis himself on a hiking trip into the woods when the ice was still thick on... More

Piragis took care of every detail for our outfitting...even the minor things like water bottles and pillows. Food was really good too. An expert and companionable guide accompanied us. Excellent service from the first inquiry to the shuttle out. Highly recommended. Our group of 6 had a fantastic time, even got to see the northern lights. We took the boundary... More

Purchased a pair of Chota portage boots at Piragis. Sole of one boot came loose as glue failed. Other boot was fine. Contacted Chota boot company and they indicated it was Piragis's problem because the boot model was sold only by Piragis. Emailed Piragis about problem and received NO reply. Do not buy anything from them as they do not... More

I was surprised and concerned to see your recent post about my business on Trip Advisor. As you can see, we have never received less than very positive reviews. I apologize for the inconvenience with your Chota Boots and that you have not received a response to your initial email. We will absolutely replace a pair of boots with a... More

Piragis Outfitting tops the bar if you are looking for a professional company to help coordinate and supply a trip into Boundary Waters or Quetico Provincial Park. Without exception, they were thorough and knowledgeable in setting up our 7 day canoe into Canada. It is rare to encounter a business where every staff member is cordial, competent and able to... I love the place. Each time we went on wilderness canoe trips to Quetico, either leading trips for BSA or personal trips we would always stop in Piragis first. I have bought canoes paddles and lots of specialized equipment over the years. I think my days of wilderness canoe tripping are done but I have fond memories of my visits... More

I cannot say enough good things about Piragis! We were novice campers looking to go to the Boundary Waters. Drew signed us up for full outfitting with a guide and Piragis provided EVERYTHING except our clothes (including the permit!). The equipment they gave us looked new, we lacked for nothing and had all the cool camping gadgets. Our guide, Erik,... More

Just completed a six day BWCAW trip, outfitted by Piragis. This is my fourth or fifth through them. As always they responded to my flurry of emails to arrange for all our needed gear and drop off/pick up service to/from our entry point. Arrangements were flawless. Gear is first rate.

Love shopping this store. The upstairs book section is great as well as the camping section on the ground level. This year I had a question about a product I purchased from them. The owner was not available to answer my question so the sales clerk took my contact info and told me she would have the owner call on... More

Adam at Piragis was fantastic to work with from the very first email inquiry I sent. Although we'd had previous wilderness canoeing experience, we'd never been to BWCA before and he helped us establish a great route that was perfect for our group. Piragis took care of all the permitting and canoe rental, as well as sending us route maps... More

Piragis is a first rate outfitter with excellent staff and guides who successfully met our needs. Piragis equipment was top of the line. Our guide, Andrew was so knowledgable and made our trip worthwhile and safe despite rough winds and going up stream on the Little Indian Sioux River South - entry point 9. We would want them to outfit... More
