Wonderful to hear the story of Dorothy Molter who lived in the boundary waters as it became a wilderness area. She was a strong woman who was capable and industrious. I always enjoy hearing about successful, independent women. Her cabin is here with other artifacts....More

We pulled in on a whim without knowing much about Dorothy Molter. What an interesting woman! And of course we bought some root beer.

If you like the "lore of the North" you'll love the Root Beer Lady's museum. Sometimes I think I would have made a good Root Beer Lady! Definitely a must see if you're in or going through Ely.

I probably enjoyed this more than the kids (teenagers) but even the museum managed to hold their attention for an hour, the adjacent trails were nice because they walked the trails and I spent a little extra time at the museum

Our daughter loves the history and story of Dorothy. We've gone several times and always seem to discover or learn something new every time. Must try the roo tbeer!

The place introduces the woman that lived alone in wilderness. If you're new to the area, it would be a great start to visit the museum. Guided tour is included and is a must to get more information.
