We went to Frontenac in the hopes of hiking the bluffside trail, but the ranger warned us that it hadn't recovered yet from the winter, so we opted to hike the Prairie Loop. It's a mild 3 mile loop through the prairie and was perfect...More

I camped out in Frontenac as a spur of the moment 3 day weekend trip this past November. While most might think late November in Minnesota would be a cold difficult time to camp, I wouldn't have wanted to go any other time! We came...More

The fact that this park is situated along the high bluffs of the Mississippi River in the area just north of Lake Pepin warrants a visit. The network of trails along the bluff, etched into the slopes from bluff top to the banks of the...More

Lake Bronson State Park is located in northwest Minnesota, not far from the Canadian border. It's a small park with 3 campgrounds: Lakeside, Extension, and Two Rivers. Lakeside is just as the name implies. It's right on the lake. The views of the sunrises and...More

Our first visit, but not our last. The rangers on Labor Day were incredibly helpful and friendly. They recommended the Bluff Loop Trail which had easy to quite difficult sections in this 3 mile loop. They suggested doing the loop clockwise which did seem to...More

We stayed here for our anniversary and arrived on a Monday. We had the trails to ourselves. The park is was nice and quiet, the tree canopy near Lake Pepin was very impressive. In our camp site we didn't wake up early and got to...More

The camping area in Frontenac State Park is well maintained. The sites are wooded and some have views of the distant bluffs of the Mississippi River. Electric is available at some of the campsites but not individual water hook-ups. Potable water is available throughout the...More

Spent a couple of nights camping in the park, good shower and restroom facilities close by our spot and hiking trailer right off the campground area. Lookouts provide great views of the Mississippi and Wisconsin across the river.
