We took the opportunity to rent two pontoon boats to cruise around the lake on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in October. Take advantage of the beauty of Itasca State Park by seeing it from the lake.

Spent the day here. That's all you need to see it all. The hour and a half boat ride was interesting and the narrative was historical. Quiet and relaxing day. Sandwiches are available at Mary Gibbs restaurant. 185 years of discovery of the headwaters of...More

We visited Lake Itasca to see the source of the Mississippi. The park itself is very well appointed. The welcome center gives a great overview of the area and its history. There is an area at the top of the lake which gives you the...More

View the lake from the headwaters or along the drive to the east entrance. It is a great view anytime - we were there in the early spring when there were few people. It can get crowded in mid summer.

Beautiful lake near Douglas Lodge and cabins in the park. Worth stopping in and visiting. Great paths to walk, eat at the lodge (seasonal?) and just sit outside and enjoy the great outdoors.

Nice lake to visit, right on one of the walking trails in Itasca state park. You can walk right down to the shore off of the trail.

This park contains gorgeous old growth pines (300+ years old), as well as newer areas with all the native plants you'd expect . . . wildflowers, berry shrubs, conifers and oaks. The lakes range from charming pothole lakes, to the iconic Lake Itasca where you...More

Really nice place to visit. To think the " 'Ol' Man" is born right here. Pretty amazing to think about that. Nice walk down to the headwaters. Lovely to see the kids in the water, especially along the wooden walkway. Very pleasant place. We didn't...More
