The Cascade begins at much higher elevation than most rivers in Minnesota as it meanders through granite rock with many falls, twists and turns on it's way to Lake Superior.

Wonderful hiking trails following the river. They’re not too difficult and perfect for a morning or afternoon hike. Hiking to the upper Falls and beyond is one of our favorite North Shore activities with lots of photo opportunities. I would suggest proper footwear.

Visited the river and the falls. Very pretty. Definitely worth the short hike to see it. I'd recommend it.

There are great trails along the river and a beautiful waterfall just before it flows into Lake Superior.

Beautiful and mild climb to the top for a stunning view of the lake and surrounding trees. 3 miles round trip. Many places to stop and enjoy the waterfall along the way.

This is the first time I have made it to the North Shore in the spring. We always stop by Cascade River, and this time it was spectacular. The water was raging, and the outflow was at least 200 yards out into the lake.

I had a quick visit to the North Shore for my birthday and stopped at some of my favorite spots. The Cascade River is always a joy to visit. It changes with the seasons and this was no exception!

A nice, short hike to the waterfall, that was just perfect for a day of lots of exploring. Wasn't too strenuous, as our day was packed with stopping at all the state parks and hiking to the waterfall.

Cascade river is a rustic trail with numerous manmade and artificial steps. I can't speak for the campground, but the paths along the falls are definitely not suitable for a wheelchair.
