Wanted to get outdoors on an unexpected warm spring day. This area has unpaved walking trails with views of the river from bluffs and Bison if they are not hiding. Trail is not always smooth. There are occasional rocks jutting up out of the ground. Also very wooded at times then open prairie views. There is a 2nd area where... More

Love the Buffalo park! So neat to drive through and camp next too. The hiking around the falls is adventure at its best.

This is a pretty busy park. We came here after a road race to keep our legs moving for a bit and loved the falls. There was plenty of parking and bathrooms. The falls were pretty and it was kinda rustic going down to the bottom. I could have stayed all day. A must visit when in Mankato.

First time: There they are, no big deal. 13 of 'em. no camera Second time: Camera, no bison--no big deal--saw mill Third time: yet to come. Will have lunch to be eaten in car, camera at the ready, laugh at the sign again and hope for a great day (they always have been wonderful).

Lovely waterfalls, trails, and an interesting drive through a Bison pasture, Minneopa State Park is a great place to spend half a day. There are also a few campsites for overnight visits. My only wish is that the DNR would enlarge the campground and add more electric sites. It's difficult to get a reservation especially if you require electricity.

We love going out to Minneopa on a sunny day to hike and see the waterfall splashing over and creating a roar that is exhilarating. We love going out to Minneopa on a snowy, grey day to see the waterfall perfectly still and icy...an ice sculpture as only nature can create. Simple and sweet this state park is worth a... More

We went here to kill time and see the Bison, seeing that my dad is in to them. But when we got there we found out we had to pay for a $5 bumped sticker just to get in, and when we actually got in either the Bison weren't there or are really good at hiding, because we didn't see... More

Great park to check out, the falls are beautiful anytime of year. the steps can be a bit treacherous in the winter, but the view is worth the walk. great photo opportunities.

The best part about Minneopa is that it has a couple options. The waterfall trail is short but very pretty, and you can get close to the falls. That is definitely my favorite thing to do at the park, but you can also check out Seppman Mill or go for a drive to see some buffalo. Not a place you're... More
