Not the best Minneapolis has to offer

Downtown Minneapolis has some many great buildings to photograph from all sorts of angles and taking advantage of reflections is one of my favorite shots!

It's basically a generic 1970's style skyscraper with a chain store Court thingie. Only for completists.

As I wrote in my Potbelly restaurant review, the IDS Building has a center plaza for shopping and dining. (Potbelly's was very good by the way.) We visited on a Saturday and after parking in what we felt was a very unsafe parking ramp (dark, no cameras evident, no security guards, no attendant, confusing layout), we made our way to... More

Although this is truly the modern icon in Minneapolis and a beautiful modern structure, there are too many things to see and do to spend time looking at steel and glass. If you are exploring downtown and the Nicollet Mall, take a quick walk through. Don't make it your primary destination.

We were chaperones for a Prom held on the 50th floor of the IDS Building. There were windows everywhere almost floor to ceiling with breathtaking views looking out over all parts of the cities. In addition to this we were provided a dessert bar and water and lemonade. The desserts were delectable and the staff was courteous and helpful and... More

Built in the early 1970's, this building anchored the entire skyline of downtown Minneapolis for a couple of decades. Tall, dark, and monolithic, the style of this building is reminiscent of the same building designed by the same firm that highlights the Dallas skyline. The Crystal Court, with shops and a few restaurants, is the thing that saves this building... More

The IDS Building is very unique from an architecture standpoint. The inside of the building has an interesting water feature and the all window interior is unique and very pretty. Inside you will find a park like setting with benches and trees to relax on. There is also a few fast food restaurants, a couple upscale restaurants, a gift shop,... More

I had the opportunity to visit IDS Building reaching the last floor. From there I could see how the other skyscrapers in Downtown were so smaller, from that height I could admire the entire area around Minneapolis. It was fun and very suggestive!

IDS center is basically just a massive office tower. It offers great views of the Twin Cities area, but the top floors are not open to the public unless you work upstairs, or attend an event/party on the top floor. The main lobby serves a an indoor public square where several skyways intersect. There are some generic chain stores, banks... More

Had a meeting in the IDS building in the Planets room on the 50th floor. Located next to The Marquette hotel is the IDS office building but will offer incredible views. From the new Viking stadium to the Mississippi River, to the Foshay Tower, to Target Field, you can see it all. You can wander to the different sides of... More
