This classic facade hides some pretty normal city offices, but inside is a giant statue titled "Father of the Waters." It is worth a look if you are walking nearby. At one time the building was totally black from soot and smog. The granit was...More

An iconic structure in downtown Minneapolis with lite rail rolling past it, sort of. Looks somewhat like an ancient European stye castle with rich woods in the interior. I think there are ghosts roaming the hall at night.

The place has been renovated and is in pristine condition. Inside is spectacular. Great marble. We stopped in for a minute and stayed a couple of hours.

I didn't see the entire building but did visit several floors and open areas. It's mainly an old office building but the "bones" seem solid and the architecture inside and out make it wort stopping by.

In the atrium you'll see a grand marble staircase, breathtaking stained glass ceiling and windows, majestic statue - Mississippi, the Father of Waters, and intricately carved marble faces (no two alike) that...More

It survived a 1950s "modernization" of the City Council chambers, hallways and stairs. A more recent project restored the building to it's roots-- including restoring the Council Chambers to "near" historic condition. Check out the main entry on 4th Street with the stained glass windows...More
