A wonderful experience of a working agricultural farm at the turn of the century. Staff dress in period costume and are knowledgeable about the workings of the farm. Once a year the Regina Symphony Orchestra preforms at the Homestead for the afternoon. Dinners are served through the summer and family activities are available. We had a thoroughly wonderful afternoon here.

We really enjoyed this historic site with educational and interesting things to do and see for both kids and adults. The house was a real treasure with its old furniture, dishes and clothes. We loved to pet and feed the animals, climb on the tractor and horse carriages and catch the shells in the pond. The play structure was like... More

The Motherwell Homestead is rich in history and beauty. It is a timeless Saskatchewan house. For all the abandoned houses you see in the prairies, it is truly amazing to see what one would have looked like in its prime. The staff are welcoming and friendly with great food and relaxed atmosphere. This is the perfect day drive for friends... More

I am used to fantastic National Trust properties in the UK and when I heard about Motherwell when I moved to Saskatchewan in 2005 I had high hopes for this property and it has been on my bucket list since then. It is a beautiful property, the staff really care about it, the artifacts are brilliant. They had a kids... More

We spent a wonderful afternoon at the Motherwell Homestead with the Regina Symphony this past Sunday. The Motherwell Homestead is a working historic Saskatchewan farm complete with cows, horses, pigs, goats, sheep and poultry. There is a beautifully restored stone house with a comfortable and informative Interpretive Centre which serves home cooked prairie meals. On Sundays throughout the summer they... More

Motherwell Homestead NHS, SK in Abernethy—about 100 km from Yorktown. GPS N50deg43’04.3”, N 103deg25’28.” Family rate C$9,80. Excellent place. The grandkids really enjoyed doing the Junior Explorer program. Staff is in period costume. I went here with my parents as well as my 5 & 7 year old. We enjoyyed doing the "Park explorer" activities given to us at arrival. It directed our visit by helping us learn some activities we could try such as playing games from 100 years ago, grinding oats to feed the pigs, and meeting the baby chickens. We... More

I had the opportunity to visit during the same day Parks Canada was holding a special event - Binding and Stocking - Concert in the Barnyard. I have a Parks Canada discovery pass; however, when special events are held, you still have to pay admission for the special event but worth the extra fee. Staff were dressed in costume and... More

Visiting the Motherwell Homestead is a unique opportunity to step back in time 100 years and visit an authentic working farm. Delicious homemade lunches are available for purchase daily as is freshly ground grain flour. We have visited this site more than once and is a great place to take the family. I encourage you to look at schedules for events also with the Friends of The Motherwell Homestead. You see machniery, animals, and just a nice peaceful day! Already planning to go back this summer for their big fundraiser!
