Darla helped us look up our family history,

We wanted to look into our heritage and find more info on our family. Museum is top notch with interactive sections.

The building, itself, is worth the stop. But the further surprise is the excellent displays- some that change through the year. The Third Floor Dakota Uprising exhibit was dramatic. The doll house exhibit wonderful. GREAT book store for all books Minnesota.

Check out all three floors. Local historical items on the first floor. Early drawings by Wanda Gag and German items on the second floor. The treasures are on the third floor for a historical view of the Dakota Conflict.

Has lots of very local history, The trees around here don't have a lot of branches!!! Some really cool history about immigration from Germany and Germanic countries and how they settled here in the United States.

The Brown County Historical Museum was the last stop on our day long school field trip. They divided the groups by age and the volunteers successfully guided us using age appropriate tours. The video on the attack of New Ulm in 1862 was informative, but also kept the students' interest. Our older students will gladly return for more time when... More

A very charming man named Willard gave us a wonderful overview of the building and its contents. He pointed out highlights, who to use all of the equipment. He was even able to tell us places to eat when we told him they type of small town places we like. It was a great little Museum , $5.00 for adults-... More

One of my favorite places for researching anything and anywhere in Brown County, as well as a couple of places in Nicollet County that have history tied to New Ulm such as Fort Ridgely and Courtland. I have done much research and their files on the families of Brown County are wonderful and many of them have pictures of the... More

The Dakota/settler war exhibit was so good we went back the next day to absorb more. Really deepened our understanding and appreciation of the area's history and the challenges of all the people trying to survive there. Brought New Ulm to life for us. Also in a beautiful building (old post office).
