A great place to get away any time of the year. Hiking in the summer or fall colors, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing are perfect in the park. Find the highest point in the park and you can see downtown Minneapolis from here.

Nice biking trails and they also have built a new dog park at parking lot. Looks like challenging bike trails.

With a Dog Path and a Horse Trail this place has options for your 4 legged friends. Beautiful walks surrounded by nature and even a few lakes/pond to see on the journey. I will say though it is a place where insects like mosquitoes and ticks thrive so make sure you pets have protection and make sure your covered in... More

The paved paths are great for running or walking. I wouldn't recommend fishing in the pond/lake but other than that it's very scenic and the dog park it nice as well.

My wife and I live fairly close to the park but only recently ventured out here - I wish we would have known how great it is sooner. The hiking trails are great and they even put in a new dog park. I haven't jumped onto the Mountain Biking trails, but given the crowds (especially on the weekends) I can... More

This large reserve encompasses both rolling hills and prairies. It gets some visitors but is large enough that it is anything but crowded. Almost every time I have visited (which is fairly frequently), once I leave the parking lot I typically see less than a dozen people. It definitely doesn't feel like you are within the metro area. Bring your... More

I have written about Murphy Hanrahan hiking in the past but felt compelled to write again after running into several people over the past few weeks who have gotten lost in the park. Yes, the park is stunning, particularly this time of year (fall). Yes, you will have hills to hike that have some loose rocks in places --- all... More

I had lived 10 years in the area before I discovered this park. That's the real shame here. The other shame is the number of woodticks on the trails that keep us out of the park in early spring. I have only used the park for hiking but to my understanding, it is fabulous for biking and cross crounty skiing.... More

Any bike rider can tell you that Dakota County is unlike anywhere in the Twin Cities. Many sharp hills, all up and down. Murphy Hanrahan concentrates this, and adds snow. It is the most challenging area to cross country ski in the Cities.
