We did the tour and got to go into buildings that arent just open. We had a blast and my kids learned a lot. They have toured many historical places so some of the things they knew. The dressmaker was in so they got to see how an old sewing machine works! If it is your first time definitely do... More

We visited with two families that included 6 kids under the age of 7. They had so much fun! There was a lot to see and learn and a lot more hands on activities for the kids than we expected. Pack a picnic lunch and plan on spending 1/2 day visiting the homes and shops.

The people at the landing were very knowledgeable. The people at the landing were actually cooking reAl food on old fashion stoves. They all played their parts very were. I loved the Wild West show and gun fights.

Murphy's landing is the best kept secret in the cities! it is an old 1889 village set up with the original houses brought in from all over the state. its open every weekend in the summer. you can go into each house where there is a interpreter that is in authentic costume and can tell you so much about the... We have taken grandkids here for folkways of Christmas - a living history village to se how people lived and celebrated in the late 1800's. You can go at your own pace

Every time I'm in Minnesota I'm amazed how many people I encounter who don't know about this place - literally a walk through history. After you pay the small fee to get in, you get on a horse-drawn wagon that takes you to a cabin like the kind trappers lived in before Minnesota was a state. It's not a replica.... More

We live fairly close to the Landing and try to stop at least once a summer. I love taking time to really walk through and look at the old buildings. The staff is very knowledgeable about the buildings and the and the era each one is from. There is also a fantastic nature trail that runs along side the river... More

We took the grandkids here for the day. They had a blast. Asked many questions of the costumed workers and they were all right up to date with the era they were in. It was disappointing that several of the buildings were not open but it was very hot so maybe they did not have enough staff. Would love to... More

We took our grandchildren to Murphy's Landing and had a fun afternoon. The kids especially enjoyed the horse and carriage ride to the main grounds. The costumed villagers were knowledgeable about the period of history represented in the town. It was fun to see the chickens in one hard and realistic decor in the houses. The grounds were well maintained.
