Labor Day Camping Trip

4 or 5? That was a tough call. The campground had nice size, shaded stores. The bathhouse was maintained and cleaned better than a lot of state parks we've visited. In fact some... read more

We visited on Friday, September 30, 2016. Entrance fee is either $5.00 per day or unlimited state park visits for one year for $25.00. Wonderful, peaceful area. Protected woods and water. Lots of picnic tables here and there. Boat lauch as well as a fishing pier.

4 or 5? That was a tough call. The campground had nice size, shaded stores. The bathhouse was maintained and cleaned better than a lot of state parks we've visited. In fact some very inconsiderate campers had been in and made a muddy mess after the morning cleaning on Labor Day and the guy came back and mopped the floor... More

We stayed across the lake and visited for a couple hours one afternoon. Nice park, friendly staff. Couldn't spend much time outside, mosquitos weren't deterred by our Deet. haha!

My dog and I were looking for an easy day hike and that's what we found at this park. It was my first visit and I just wanted to look around and see what it had to offer. The office was open and the park ranger was friendly and helpful. We took the Wahpekuta Trail along the lakeshore. It's a... More

We went on the Hiking Club Trail. The trail has a lot of variety including a hidden pond, views of the lake (now that most trees have lost their leaves) and many small hills. We only encountered one person on the trail with us.

My wife and I have visited twenty state parks in Minnesota and this one has been the most disappointing. Except for the state trail the other hiking trails throughout the park are not well maintained. My wife always brings a camera to photograph wildflowers, wildlife and scenic views. She only took two pictures during our visit. I doubt we will... More

They have running water & electric by this camp group. Wish they removed all shoreline trees. Overall, the Park was nice.

This is a hidden "gem." It has very good Cross Country ski trails, a wonderful bike trail, access to good boating, canoeing, kayaking, and the campgrounds are clean and well taken care of. I bike through this park at least three time a week for six months and I ski weekly in this park when the snow falls . It... More

MN State Parks need better cell phone coms which in return will generate more revenue as it allow internet coms for those who need to be online and there are many such people and have camps with more visitors in week visitors.

we hiked several of the state park trails. the nicest scenery is the trail that runs along the lake. first 70 degree day of the year and only saw the Ranger and one other hiker in the park. there were several people on the paved state trail. I'm sure this is quite picturesque in the fall. there is a nice... More
