I think Sugar Loaf is one of the more photographed places in Winona. I was told it's not a easy place to climb up to, especially if you're not fit! I was also told, there are snakes around that area!

Finally got around to actually climbing up to Sugarloaf. You drive around behind it on Lake BLvd and then Sugarloaf road, and park next to a brick utility building. There's a no trespassing sign, but that's for the house next door. You climb a concrete...More

When driving north on Hwy 61, you will know you have arrived in Winona when you see the city’s most iconic landmark, Sugar Loaf (illuminated at night), a majestic, limestone pinnacle that tops a 400-500 ft-tall bluff. The pinnacle overlooks the city and rises more...More

When you see Sugar Loaf, you know that you have arrived in Winona, Minnesota. Sugar Loaf are natural bluffs which overlook Lake Winona and the town. It is nice easy hike for families and not overly exerting.

From way out of town you suddenly see this oddly-shaped lump of rock sticking out above the trees on the bluff above the town. It's a real local landmark - well worth a photo or two.

I spent some time in Winona and asked many people how to get there and nobody knows. There is rumor about two traces on the back of the hill, but there is "Private property" sigh and no parking at all. I can't reach it, there...More

Short steep hike but the view was worth it. Park by brown utility building and hike around it to access trail. As you go around fence to the right don't be fooled by wash out as a trail. Go 10-15 yards farther to actual trail.
