I spent part of a day here primarily for the views of the river valley. Took a couple of hikes and was pleased with what I saw. You're so high up at some spots you can see for miles and miles. Binoculars were helpful to improve to view even more. My visit was in early April, so not much foliage... More

Both short and long hikes are available on marked, unpaved trails. The 3-mile, round trip, easy hike to the King's bluff lookout took us through a forest with paths lined with pine needles, along the tops of high hills overlooking great valleys, and over tree rooted paths leading to a wide vista of bluffs and the Mississippi River. Quiet, serene... More

This park is just off the main highway and there are a number of short hikes as well as longer ones. To the east there are 2 with excellent viewing points over the Mississippi, particularly clear at this time of year with clear skies, excellent visibility and bare trees. No doubt vastly different when the summer and autumn foliage is... More

This MN State Park will give you breathtaking views of the Mississippi River valley that you will not find anywhere else. The pathways are wide and well groomed, the deciduous trees are all around the pathways, the panoramic views (there are several stops) are fabulous, the walks are not very long on the east side and you will find that... We were very happily surprised by this state park. It has a nice collection of short and medium hiking paths. The views of the river are nice and you don’t see too many people. Hint #1: There is a $5 charge to get in. There is no attendant on duty, so have the cash ready. Hint #2: Many of the... More

We walked over 4 miles of the trails going to three of the overlooks in the park. We saw bald eagles at two of the overlooks and thoroughly enjoyed the views overall. The trails are mostly easy with a few moderate spots. We drove in past the first couple of parking lots to the picnic area and walked from there... More

The King's Bluff trail takes you by restored prairie, through pine forest (with a soft bed of needs underfoot, through hardwood forest, on rocky hiking paths and then to a bluff top overlooking the Mississippi, all while travelling mostly level ground. But also take some time to check out other trails like that to the Eastern lookout, which I thought... More

The trails are lovely for hiking at all levels. Surprisingly more prairie-like than you would anticipate next to the river, but lovely none-the-less. There is nothing out there so make sure you bring a picnic otherwise be prepared for a 30 minute drive.

The Kings bluff hike is mostly flat, but such great views of the Mississippi River at the end of the trail. There are other trails through the woods and some by the campgrounds. Very unbusy park.
