Driving along the Mississippi River on Highway 61 is very picturesque. Stop and see eagles sitting on the ice in winter or in trees in summer. Barges and boats. If I didn't live here I'd come here on vacation!!!

Spent a wonderful day taking a road trip on the Great River Road. We weren’t sure if the trees would still have color, but we were very pleasantly surprised - there was still plenty of color which made it a very pretty drive. The route...More

View the Mississippi River views which are breathtaking. Often you'll see tugs with barges on the river. Bald eagles and wild life will often be in view.

I can't believe I'm reviewing a highway! But, highway 61 around Winona is worth a detour to see and drive. You'll see bluffs, trees, water, and other beautiful images that aren't found just anywhere. It's not a hard drive, but it's enjoyable.

I grew up in Winona, but when I go back, I always fly to Minneapolis and then rent a car so I can have the pleasure of driving along Hwy 61, the aptly named Great River Road. You'll drive along the Mississippi, which isn't visible...More

Route along river includes high bluffs and fine views of the river. Lake Pepin is on the route. Hard to beat this drive. Summer is better than winter.;
