The Marine Art Museum is located down by the river in Winona. There's a unique collection of paintings and sailors tattoo art. The high light of the collection is one of the 3 surviving original paintings of George Washington and his men crossing the Delaware River. Entrance fee was $7 pp. Plan on about an hour to hour and half... More

I wasn't totally sure what to expect when I went into the MMAM but I was almost immediately in love. There was an exhibit featuring some of the tattoo artists who paved the way for a lot of the work we see today, totally awesome. There were some of the most gorgeous paintings of nature that I've ever seen, just... More

One would not expect to see the many famous paintings the MMAM has in their collection. One that truly stands out is the original of George Washington crossing the Delaware. Phenomenal and totally did not expect to see that, and close up. Same one that use to hang in the White House in Washington DC!

We enjoyed visiting the Art Museum. The staff is very knowledgeable. Our favorite painting was Washington Crossing the Delaware.

What a find! Excellent private museum (based on a local collection) covering everything from impressionists to local artists with a "water" theme. Well-designed galleries, nice collection, eclectic selection. Do not miss this one in Winona.

When compared to the huge museums I have had the opportunity to visit here in the U.S. and throughout Europe, this museum is well laid out and contains works from world masters. Artists include Winslow Homer, Matisse, Picasso, Wyeth, Hudson River artists, American impressionists, Georgia O'Keefe, and others. Washington crossing the Delaware is on display. Well laid out and definitely... More

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is a must see if you like fine art. It is hard to believe the world class art that is found in this small city museum. art from Monet, Picasso, Renoir, and Washington crossing the Delaware are just a few examples of what you will see. It's amazing.

Who would expect to find paintings by pretty much any famous artist you've ever heard of in a small museum in Winona, MN. But here they are. Originals by the four listed in the title of this review and so many more. It's called a Marine Art museum, and many of the pieces feature boats and water, but for some... More

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is something that you would not expect in a smaller town. There is world class art, including pieces from Monet, Manet and others. The highlight is the Leutze painting of "Washington Crossing the Delaware", an oil painting from 1851. If you don't see anything else, be sure to see that painting, it is beautiful and... More
