Beautiful garden

Lovely inside and out, the museum makes up for small, only moderately impressive exhibits by having many outdoor events.

Visited last weekend to see "When Modern was Contemporary" and it was really a great exhibit. Really enjoyed the museums permanent collection as well. Well worth the visit!

The building is beautiful, and when they have events, they are always worth attending. That being said, I am not that impressed with their works which are on permanent display.

The Mississippi Museum of Art is outstanding for a city the size of Jackson. Approaching the museum is in itself a pleasant experience because of the attractive fountains and the Art Garden. Both the museum's permanent collection and the visiting exhibitions are quite good. The Palette Cafe is a great place to eat lunch, and browsing the gift shop is... More

Recently attended a noon-day guided tour of the Neuberger exhibit with artist Jason Bouldin. It was an outstanding and informative tour and discussion. There are really great things happening at the MMA...take advantage of it and have lunch at the Palette which is fantastic!

My children took some art classes here and I toured the museum while they took their class. It is filled with great art treasures. Super nice staff, yummy café, and beautiful seating areas to enjoy nature. They have this super outdoor swing. My daughter enjoyed swinging, sipping coke, and looking at the beautiful outdoor scenery. This is a gem for... More

Enjoyed the exhibits including the Marie Hull exhibit. Bill Dunlap has a permanent painting there. Interesting museum and would go again depending on exhibits.

This museum, located in downtown Jackson, was much better than I expected! It possesses a beautiful array of Mississippi artists and their creations including photos, paintings, and sculptures. Staff are friendly and helpful. It will only take a couple of hours, but it's worth the trip for sure!

The permanent collection consists of works of artists from Mississippi or by artists who have Mississippi connections which is free and open to the public. I personally enjoyed the works by William Hollingsworth for their intensity of emotion and by Jason Bouldin for their uncanny realism. The Museum is hosting a collection of 52 works of modern art from the... More
