(FYI, our navigation system got us to Old Taylor Road but had us stop over a block short of the house at 916. The street from the South Lamar Boulevard turn had no markers or signs indicating Rowan Oak was there. Just continue on a short distance on Old Taylor and you'll find the signage and driveway to the house... More

Worth the $5 entrance fee. There were some interesting parts in the house (writing room wall), but the real beauty was outside.

Go in the morning, when it's not so busy, and stop anywhere on the grounds to just soak in the sounds, smells, and aura of Rowan Oak. There's a peaceful feeling everywhere you walk and it's easy to see why this property is so loved. Behind the house there's a nice 1/4 mile walking path that ends at the University... More

Whether you are a writing buff or just an admirer of historic homes, Rowan Oak will impress. Here you gain real insights into the life of William Faulkner, his work and his habits to include plot lines written on the walls of a bedroom, a true bargain at $5

It's a neat little look in to Faulkner's life. I learned quite a bit about the man, his life, work and family. It's a beautiful old house and grounds.

It's a remarkable man's notably unremarkable house. The point that a significant literary figure could live in such spare surroundings is something you can know without visiting the grounds.

Our first stop on our tour of Oxford was to Rowan Oak to see Faulkner's home. Lots of memorabilia and beautiful grounds so I highly recommend it. We parked and walked down a scenic trail to see the house and get our first view of this landmark. This is a must for all and especially meaningful to readers of this... More

We traveled to Oxford after Christmas only to discover Rowan Oak was closed for the holidays. It is still worth a walk from downtown. We were told there is a trail head for a path that leads from the property to Ole Miss. Unfortunately, we could not find it. Looking forward to returning one day to visit the house.

This house is close to downtown Oxford and is worth the short drive. My wife and I took a self-guided tour and learned some interesting things about the author. It takes about an hour to tour the house.

We loved sitting in the rocking chairs in the garden and walking the trails around the house. Beautiful and well-maintained home.
