This is a 21-acre city park on the north side of Cape Girardeau offering great overlooks of the Mississippi River. It has no website of its own, but can be found mentioned in the city's website that I listed.

This place is worth the drive to get a great view of the river and read about the origins of Cape Girardeau. It's a quick and easy look around. The city needs to attend to the picnic area which was full of trash. Otherwise it's a scenic spot.

Not much here except a great overlook upon the Mississippi River just north of downtown Cape. From here you will look east across river into the flood plain of southern Illinois and the Shawnee forest. Nice quick spot to stop for photos.

Cape Girardeau isn't the only "cape" around here Posted Friday, July 25, 2008, at 3:39 PM Most think the state of Missouri is landlocked. Not so much. Not only does it’s eastern edge border the Mississippi, it happens to contain one of the few (if not the most well-known) inland capes in the country. Cape Girardeau, Missouri, got it’s name... While not as prominent as in decades past when much of the stone was removed to allow the railroad, Cape Rock Park is still the only place to understand why Cape Girardeau is the only inland named "cape" in the country. It offers excellent views of the river and excepting the railroad and a now unused pump house is nearly... More

Great overlook of the river. Not much here. But work a quick stop. Not a lot of parking. Don't bring an RV. Not enough room.

We are history buffs so we enjoyed finding out more about the area and watching the Mississippi from this vantage point.

Short drive from downtown, well worth the time! The Mississippi River is wide at this point, great access for watching barges & trains!

This park really wasn't worth going to; if you want a pretty view of the river, go to Trail of Tears State Park. When I went to Cape Rock Park, it wasn't well maintained. There was trash everywhere and the flag poles were bare. There is nothing to do besides look at the river and hardly any where to sit... More

This is a pretty park and overlook area of the mighty Mississippi River. (My parents had their first date at "an old rock fountain," that is on the left going up to this viewing area). Keep the kids and pets close, because the road is narrow on top, and driver's views are somewhat obstructed.
