We visited Tin Mill, Herman Hoff and other stores in Herman on Wednesday last week. These store keepers are so very passionate about the products they make and sell. Everyone has a story on how they ended up in Herman. So very enjoyable.

I am not usually into sweets, however, the parings were delicious and the wineries are beautiful. We will be back for bacon in May!

This was a great little town about 1.5 hours from St. Louis. Went for the Christkindlfest and Wine and Cheese Trail. Wineries were nice and a couple of them have great views and some excellent wine. All of the cheese parings were perfect. Reminds me of Germany. Stayed at a local bed and breakfast which was cozy. There are no... More

Hi Lisa, Thank you for your review and sharing your thoughts. We are glad you enjoyed the wine and food pairing for the Hermann Wine Trail event. Each winery sets their own policy regarding wine tasting, which is separate from the Hermann Wine Trail ticket. More and more wineries across the country are charging for wine tasting due to the... Note, I said day trip, as there are no major hotel chains. However, there are lots of nice romantic B&Bs. Very reasonable, off season and weekdays. Hermann offers a trolley bus that takes you to the major wineries in the area. Nice if you want to sample the wines and not worry about driving. This is a VERY German Community... More

Cute town. We walked and shopped the first day. Did a couple wineries. Octoberfest was not at all what we expected. We expected a craft show type of festival with lots of vendors selling their wares, instead It consisted of a tent serving wine and beer. Everything shut down by 7pm. We came by Amtrak and stayed at the Hermanhoff... More

What a quaint town. Hermann is along the Missouri River. This town originated as a planned German settlement in order for German culture to be preserved. Hermann was selected because it looks like a town along the Rhine. Lots of history here, which makes this town unique among the nation's Oktoberfests. Touring a prominent historic house was entertaining, to say... More

Cute town....beautiful Fall colors. B&B was nice! The town basically rolls up its rugs at 6 pm or sooner. Doesn't reopen until 10 am the next morning. Winery's are nice although we only visited one. Our biggest complaint was there wasn't any decent dining unless you paid top $. The traditional German food was NOT authentic and the rest of... More

Cute little town with great wine. We visited four wineries on the wine trail and loved them all. It was crowded, but it was Octoberfest so we were not surprised.

Hermann is nice but don't count on Kevin and the trolley service. He is rude. We asked him to pick us up a mile out of town and he said he was too busy. So River City taxi was nice enough to pick us up. While we are at Simon's, which was excellent, I observed Kevin's trolley sitting across the... More
