A huge imposing building in beautiful grounds, and we've usually been the only folks here wandering through the empty corridors. For a world class experience find your way to the upstairs lounge on the northern end of the building with the absolutely fabulous Thomas Hart Benson murals of Missouri history and legends. This room along is full of absolute treasures... More

Tour guides for groups seniors to schools and just about anyone. They can be booked online. You can make a reservation online. Guided tours are free and last around 30-45 mins I would say. When... It's now been over two years ago. When my Son passed the Missouri Bar and so I went out there to get him sworn in as a lawyer. Now to be fair the state capital of Missouri is out in the middle of nowhere. By that I mean it is classic Midwestern Farmland country. It is also never going to... More

The tour was excellent including having the Thomas Hart Benton murals explained to us in detail. Such a great place! I learned a... More

Our family visited the historic sites in Jefferson City to allow our 4th grader who is learning about Missouri a chance to make a connection to school. We enjoyed the tour of the building and seeing items from Missouri's past. The State Park sytem does a great job greeting visitors.

So many times we don't take the opportunity to visit our capitol but thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The building is beautiful and loved looking at the architecture.

The portraits of past governors and the summaries about them were extremely interesting. There's a section on the USS Missouri including a brass model built by the Navy to determine placement of radio antennas. I can't forget the Des Moines Palmyra mail coach - I just wish we could have gotten in it!

This is definately a place to visit. Good exhibits on the main floor. Tours led throughout the building. Be sure and see the Thomas Hart Benton murals. The frescos are to die for as are the architectural details throughout the building. If the weather is good, get a picnic together and visit the fountains on the backside of the capitol... More
