The Coterie Theatre, named "One of the Five Best Theaters for Young Audiences" in the U.S. by TIME magazine, provides unique theatre experiences for families and young audiences. The company is nationally recognized for its one-of-a-kind programming that features a year-round season of live plays and musicals on the company's mainstage, for which individual, group, and season tickets are available. The Coterie offers acting and theatre classes year-round for PreK-12th grades at multiple locations around Kansas City, including an extensive summer program of classes and performance camps. The company also has several community outreach programs that include in-school curriculum-based workshops, theatre productions that tour to schools and community venues, a free award-winning touring presentation that educates teens about STD prevention, and a teen playwriting program that gives voice to emerging young writers. As a not-for-profit professional theatre company, The Coterie seeks to educate, entertain, and challenge audiences by opening lines of communication between races, sexes, and generations.

We came to KC on a family weekend vacation. We got last minute tickets to Goosebumps. We took our son, age 8. We all enjoyed it. The actors are very talented! I love the interactive aspect. It was my favorite part of our trip!

This is a perfect place to introduce your young ones to theatre. Check the age recommendations for the show. Not all are appropriate for the very young. Kids can sit on the floor at stage level, while the adults sit in comfortable theater seats. Most...More

We've seen multiple shows at the theatre, and the ones we have seen have been fantastic. The Christmas shows are always good. The shows for younger kids are always interactive and fun.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed Madagascar the Musical. The production was colorful, entertaining and very funny. The costumes we creative, the actors were incredible and a grand time was had by our entire family!
