The clear water of Wakonda State Park's six lakes attract thousands of migratory waterfowl each year, making the park a bird lover’s paradise. The lakes also offer anglers a chance to catch largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. Two of the lakes have boat ramps, making it even easier to get into the water. A swimming beach provides a great place to cool off, and campsites make the park a perfect place to stay for awhile.

Looks like a nice place for camping and fishing as there are numerous lakes. There were a few folks camping but most of the park seemed closed for the season, Check in and restrooms were locked so we didn't stay. There seemed to be a sizable swimming beach.

Wife and I went out on a Thursday to find a campsite that could accommodate two tents and two vehicles. I require an electric site because I have to uses a CPAP device when sleeping. In the campground, there were about 6 sites that were large and flat enough to accommodate us. Fortunately we were in early to obtain a... More

Beautiful park. The showers were cleaned twice a day. The shower water was hot. Nice and easy hiking trails. Beautiful lakes. We stayed at the Boulder Lake campground and got to watch the geese fly in every morning and out again in the evening. The camp hosts Shirley and Kyle were helpful and friendly folks. We plan on returning again... More

Stay at the wakonda lake rv side if you have an rv or big rig. You actually get 2 driveways and a huge spot. Walk down the back to your own private little beach. We bring the kayak and chill all weekend. Our family really enjoys this place, kids especially. Pic is standing at back of the camper.

It was literally 100° outside the whole weekend we were there and we all were tent campers! We stayed at sites 53-60 which have electricity so we were able to hook up fans which was really nice! These sites are also in the shade so we got very little sun shining directly on us. The kids had fun swimming at... More

Love, love, love, this park! We live very near here and love to come here kayaking on the lake! We used to be able to come over and camp here until I believe it may have flooded and took out the campers/trailers they would rent out. We do not have a camper and I don't do tents so we don't... More

A nice, quaint and clean little park. We tent camped at Boulder lake and found it very pleasant. We had very decent weather, a little chilly for most tenders but not for us. The restrooms and shower house was cleaned each morning by staff and resupplied. No paved sites for trailers or RV's but that had no effect on us.... More

Stayed in full hookup spot 106. Flat, some trees although not much shade, right on lake, good spacing between spots, uncommonly large space. Arrived on Sunday afternoon and was wishing that I had booked in for a few more nights. BUT, at 6:45 on Monday morning, some sort of high-pitched machine on the river woke me up, and it never... We have driven by this park many, many times as it is just off the Avenue of the Saints. On a recent trip to the South we had our two young grandsons and their parents with us. We were looking for a picnic stop and decided to try this park. What a pleasant surprise! The picnic area has a new... More
